World Health Day was celebrated on 7 April,2010 in Doon Public School with great enthusiasm.
Mr Saurav Bardhan, an environment enthusiast graced the occasion and enlightened everyone on the serious issue of ‘Waste Management’. He had a surprise rolled up his sleeve i.e the installation of a Roly-Poly- a horizontal tumbler shaped equipment. He installed this roly-poly over a newly dug compost-pit in the school’s front garden. All the vegetable matter, leaves, garden refuse, etc can be dumped into this orange –coloured Roly-Poly with black polka dots. All this waste would directly fall into the pit where it would decay to become compost. This compost i.e mixed manure especially of organic origin will be used to treat soil and to grow plants.
The students helped in the installation of the Roly-Poly with great zeal and promised to take care of it.
