New Delhi, 2 August 2019: In sync with the aforesaid, Doon Public School witnessed some vibrant and exuberant participation in the Inter-School Competition, ‘Around the World in One Day- a celebration of Dance & Music, Costume & Jewellery and Food’ on Friday, 2 August 2019. The gala event, which was a part of the ongoing Geetanjali Fest, began with the felicitation of the guest, Ms. Suman Doonga, Director-Media and Communication, SPIC MACAY by the Vice Head Boy, Ankit Kanwar and the Vice Head Girl, Tanisha Sharma. The Manager, Mr. Sarat Chandran, the Vice-Principal, Ms. Malini Panikkar and the Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju also graced the occasion.

The overwhelming participation of 140 students from 14 different schools added fervour and zeal to the competition that served a platform for students and teachers to research, explore and analyse peoples’ lifestyles of the other countries. The competition was executed in three rounds - Ramp Walk, Dance & Music and cuisine. The participants displayed the colourful attire and performed traditional dances of the chosen countries. The Chefs in making added a distinct flavour to the entire experience by preparing the continental dishes.

The winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate. The first prize was bagged by St. Marks Senior Secondary Girls School, Meera Bagh by presenting Africa. The second prize was won by the host school, representing Spain. The third prize was awarded to G. D. Goenka Public School representing Egypt. The consolation prize was bagged by Mamta Modern Senior Secondary School representing China , Vikas Bharti Public School representing Italy and Indraprastha International School representing Germany.
The event gave everyone an impression of going around the world in one day.

Talk, Enlighten and Discuss Competition 2019

New Delhi, 30 July 2019: The INTER-SCHOOL DOON TED [Talk, Enlighten and Discuss] competition, which was a part of the ongoing Geetanjali Fest, was organised on 30 July 2019. The session commenced with the felicitation of the guests, Mr. Harshit Gupta, Founder of Womanite, also an alumnus of our school, batch 2012-13 and Ms.Neelam Narang, Subject matter Expert in English, Scholastic India. They were felicitated by the Vice Head Boy, Ankit Kanwar and the Vice Head Girl, Tanisha Sharma.

The Manager, Mr. Sarat Chandran, the Vice-Principal, Ms. Malini Panikkar and the Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju also graced the occasion. The participants from 25 schools shared their outlook on the given spheres that were value education, community service, science, technology and innovation. The oratory skills of the participants along with their conviction inspired the audience. They shared their stories and also talked about unconventional topics such as Depression.

The winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate. The first prize was bagged by Nitya of Vishal Bharti Public School, the second prize was won by Khushi Chopra of Holy Child Senior Secondary School. The third prize was awarded to Darshdeep, Sadhu Vasvani International School. Sahil Sagar of Indraprastha International School, Dwarka won the consolation prize.
All in all it was an enriching experience for the speakers as well as the audience.

Opening Ceremony in Geetanjali Fest 2019

New Delhi, 29 July 2019: In sync with the aforesaid, an Inter School weeklong event - Geetanjali Fest, was organized by Doon Public School, Paschim Vihar. The fest commenced with a magnificent opening ceremony which was held on Monday, 29 July 2019. The Guests of honour for the event were – Ms. Saumya Sharma (IAS) Assistant Commissioner, South West Delhi, also an alumna of our school (batch 2011-12) and Mr. Harshit Gupta, Founder of Womanite, also an alumnus of our school (batch 2012-13). The other distinguished guests included - Mr. Rubal Singh, IRS, Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax; an alumnus of our school (batch 2004-05).

Dr. Gervais Thomas - Chairman Managing Committee; Dr. Mathew Panamkat- Member Managing Committee and former Director Academics; Mr. Sudershan Chikkara - Member Managing Committee, Dr. Bimal Kapoor- Member Managing Committee; Mr. Vijay Kapoor- an accomplished architect; Ms. Daljeet Kaur-Ex-Deputy Director, Directorate of Education and Additional Director SCERT, and Ms. Harsh Vij - PRT Hindi, former faculty at Doon Public School; Chairman, Governing Body- Mr. M. G. Vasan, Manager- Mr. Sarat Chandran, Vice Principal- Ms. Malini Panikkar, Headmistress- Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju and PTA Members- Mr. Rajesh Jha and Simran Kaur Keer also graced the occasion.

The school band gave a grandiose welcome to the dignitaries who commenced the ceremony by lighting the lamp and unveiling the photograph of our beloved Vice Chairperson, Late Ms. Geetha Vasan. The cultural performances like Ganesh Vandana Dance, School Orchestra and Gujarati Folk Dance by the young Doonites added varied colours to the ceremony.

The opening ceremony also gave a start to the Geetanjali Fest 2019 with the Inter School GK Quiz Wizard. 24 schools participated and exhibited their intellectual talent and competed in the various rounds to earn the coveted trophies.

The winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate. The first prize was bagged by Vikas Bharti Public School, Rohini . The second prize was won by Prabhu Dayal Senior Secondary School, Shalimar Bagh. The third prize was awarded to Bosco Public School, Meera Bagh. Indira Ideal Senior Secondary School, Janakpuri won the consolation prize. The ‘Audience Appreciation Trophy’ was bagged by Mount Abu Public School, Sector 5, Rohini.

The opening ceremony saw a true display of enthusiasm, diligence and team spirit of the Doonites.

Sports meet and Closing Ceremony

New Delhi, 3 August 2019 : Doon Public School Sports Meet culminated the week long Geetanjali Fest 2019 on Saturday,3 August 2019. The Sports Fraternity and the participants from our Knowledge Sharing Partners came together for this special occasion. The guests of honour for the event were Mr. Rubal Singh (IRS), Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax and Ms. Kashish Malik, an International Taekwondo Player, alumni of our school. The Manager, Mr. Sarat Chandran, the Vice-Principal, Ms. Malini Panikkar and the Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju also graced the occasion.

The Doonite Commonwealth spirit was in its full form when the 30 guest participants and 500 students from the host school competed in the various sports competitions. The magisterial school Band along with our skaters announced the arrival of the esteemed Guests of Honour and it was followed by a Flag Raising Ceremony. A procession of prefects, the teachers Incharge and members of four houses with their flags did a well-co-ordinated march past which was a feast to the eyes and ears. The houses were followed by the budding sportsmen from our Knowledge Sharing Partners that is, Doon Public School Bhuj, Doon Public School Hathras and Doon Public School Jodhpur.

The torchbearers, Ayushi Kandari and Mahira Nagpal undertook the ceremonial torch data-fancyboxay. It was succeeded by an oath taking ceremony which is a symbol of integrity and true sportsmen spirit. The guest of honour Mr. Rubal Singh declared the Sports Meet open and the Manager Mr. Sarat Chandran adjudged Raman House as the winner of the march past.

To infuse colour into the Sports meet, the Doonites of classes 4 to 7 showcased their muscle power in a coordinated display of dumbbells. The students from classes 5 to 8 twirled the hoops in the Hula hoop drill followed by aerobics which infused energy in the audience. The Doonites of classes 4-9 bedazzled everyone with their breathtaking martial arts stunts. A number of sports events were conducted at different venues which included - athletics, skating, basketball, futsal, taekwondo, table tennis and throwball.

The event was concluded with the cheering of the winners who were awarded with medals, trophies and certificates. The Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju gave the vote of thanks and congratulated the Doonites on the grand success of Geetanjali Fest 2019.

Science Innovation Competition

“Innovation is seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought”.

New Delhi, 31 August 2019: An “Interschool Scientific Innovation Challenge Competition” was organised during the Geetanjali Fest 2019 in our prestigious Atal Tinkering Lab. The Guests of Honour were Professor N.B .Singh, emeritus Professor Chemistry, Sharda University and Mr Harish Kumar, Senior Research Fellow, Indian Institute Of Technology, Delhi.

The motive behind the scientific innovation challenge competition was to encourage young learners to work together with curiosity and ingenuity to find a solution for everyday problem that directly affects them, their families and their communities.

There were 40 entries from various schools out of which only 14 were shortlisted after the pdata-fancyboximinary round. All the 14 schools’ teams came for the final round on Wednesday, 31 August, 2019. Each team presented their prototype in an innovative manner mentioning its construction and working in 10 minutes.

The students presented their prototype in Atal Tinkering Laboratory on the following shortlisted topics:

1) Ultrasound Emergency Alarm 2) Urea Synthesis 3) Judicious use of Technology 4) Security based Project 5) Waste innovative Triangular Trash to measure Energy Production 6) Managing e- waste 7) Smart School 8) Blind cap and Multifunction Watch 9) Robocrop Agronomics 10) Environmental Pollution by Plastic bags 11) Robotic Arm to help Sewage cleaning workers 12) Improving Quality of life through Humanitarian Engineering and Entrepreneurship

The winners were awarded trophies along with certificates by the Manager Sir, Mr. Sarat Chandran. The Vice Principal, Ms. Malini Panikkar and the Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju also graced the occasion.

Our school presented a model –“Hand talk” (gloves for deaf and mute). This device translates American Sign Language into text. The efforts made by our students were appreciated by all but being the host school we did not compete. Participation Certificates were awarded to all teams. First prize was bagged by Maharaja Agrasen Public School, the second prize was won by Venkateshwar Global School and the third prize was awarded to Richmondd Global School.

It was great to see the fighting spirit and efforts put in by all the students. They confidently answered various questions asked by the judges. According to the judges, it was a task to select the three winners out of 15 teams.

The yearly Fest, celebrated in the fond memory the Vice-chairperson, Late Mrs. Geetha Vasan, aims at the holistic development of the students. Hence various Inter School Competitions were organized from 29th July to 3rd August 2019. These included: - Inter School G.K. Quiz Wizard, Inter School Doon TED (Talk, Enlighten & Discuss), Inter School Scientific Innovation Challenge Competition, Inter School Spelling Bee Competition, Inter School Around the World in One Day and Doon Public School Sports Meet .

The weeklong Geetanjali Fest 2019 culminated with Doon Public School Sports Meet on Saturday, 3 August 2019. The sports meet brought together the Sports Fraternity and the participants from Doon Public School’s various Knowledge Sharing Partners. The guests of honour for the event were Mr. Rubal Singh (IRS), Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax and Ms. Kashish Malik, an International Taekwondo Player, alumni of our school. The Manager, Mr. Sarat Chandran, the Vice-Principal, Ms. Malini Panikkar and the Headmistress, Ms. Vidhu Vijayan Biju also graced the occasion.

The fest was filled with activities involving a range of co-curricular activities, emotions, a beautiful display of zeal, enthusiasm, health, fitness, integrity, team spirit, competition and above all unity.
