Proud moment for Doon Public School

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

Saumya Sharma, an alumna of Doon Public School (from the Science - medical stream; Session 2011-12 pass out) made everyone proud by securing the AIR 9 in UPSC CSE 2017 in her very first attempt at the age of 23 (She was 22 when she wrote the exam). She formally started her UPSC preparations in February 2017, four months before the prelims, when she was in her final semester at the National Law University, Delhi. She did not take any coaching, but had joined many test series.

Her success has not been as breezy as it seems as she had to face a lot of hurdles on her path to success. She was suffering from viral fever prior to and during the mains examinations. Another thing which fills us with wonder at this young former Doonite is that when she was 16 years of age (in class 11), she had suddenly, and for causes that still remain undiagnosed, lost her hearing severely. It was extremely difficult for her in the initial years to cope up with the loss of one of her essential senses. But the braveheart that she is, she eventually, accepted it and since then has been comfortable wearing her hearing aids which allow her to hear properly.

We salute you Saumya for your diehard spirit.

Congratulations on your achievement.

You have made us all proud.

We are proud of you and your accomplishments.

We are confident that you will continue to usher in even more successes.

Good luck for your promising life ahead.
