Library

Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.

o fuel the imagination, to open the windows to the world and inspire young minds to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving the quality of life the school provides a well furnished library managed by able and qualified librarians. To inculcate the reading habit, every child, right from preparatory school is exposed to the immeasurable world of books. The library for tiny tots is full of fairy tales, little adventure stories, fables, comics etc. The main library is equipped with a copious array of Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Biographies, Fiction and Non-fiction books to gratify the unending quest for knowledge. The school library follows an open access system for classes 3 to 12 whereby the students visit the library in the period assigned to them. They spend quality time going through book shelves, selecting the book and reading. The books are issued to them for a fortnight. Besides this classes 1 to 4 have class library which is a collection of books carefully picked to suit the age and develop a certain level of language proficiency. The library extends beyond its physical boundaries by lending books to various laboratories and the senior students enjoy the privilege of issuing subject related books either from the library or from their respective laboratories namely Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Computer laboratories. One page of the diary is dedicated to record the books issued and read by students. As part of the library activity, Scholastic Book Fairs are organized at every PTM where the children along with their parents choose to buy books satisfying the crave for reading. The aim of book fairs is also to encourage young readers to put together a library at home, gift books to friends, which can motivate the friend to start reading. The school also organizes the Annual Book Week which involves various activities related to books and reading, to promote reading. Another event organised to uphold reading is DEAR “Drop Everything And Read” where every individual right from the heads of institution to teachers to students to peons put a stop to their task and take up reading for the next 20 minutes. For the one who loves reading there is no good or bad book. As Maya Angelou says: “Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.”
